I need to literally learn French in a year. I know this is almost impossible but i have no choice. I am writing the ICSE Boards in March, and my 2nd language is French. I need to learn french and even get in some practice in writing compositions and letters. Are there any websites or books that can help me with this?

actually also depends on which board you are in, CBSE, ICSE,SSC, IGCSE, ect.
but i suggest u use the textbook in CBSE pattern. Its quite thorough/

u probably won be fluent at it studin for 1st time but practise makes it better i guess> no guarantee

Im very very very goog at learning and speaking new languages, but i only know 2 of them. Is french hard? How many years will il take me to master it? Which other language should i learn afterwards?? Is rosetta stone usefull in french? I owuld apreciate all your answers- Xion
I’ve been taking French classes for almost a year and it can be easy if you have a good instructor. You should start with the basics like numbers, letters, and simple phrases. Once you feel comfortable with that you can move on to more advanced things, from talking about the weather to caring on full conversations. As for how long it takes to learn, that depends on the student. Some get good within the first 2 years of lessons; for others 4 or more years is not uncommon. I personally have never tried rosetta stone but I hear that it is a great program and it might be the way to go if you need to learn the language quick for your job. However I believe the best thing to do would to read up on the subject in addition to taking classes. French is not hard. As long as you have a good teacher, a willingness to learn, and a positive mindset, you can master French in just a few short years
Bon Chance!!! (good luck)
I thought about learning French because Paris is the fashion capital of the world. But i read the spanish is the next most common language after english. Which one is easier to learn>?
You should learn both. Spanish is easier to start with, and "Hispanic" designers and markets are very much on the rise, but French is also indispensable for the world of haute couture and will be easier to learn if you already have Spanish "under your belt," so to speak.
I need to learn French, but i need a easy inexpensive way to do it. It doesnt matter how long it takes.
Language classes. I have done them. Love them. Maintenent, je parle francais bien!
You learn from real people, not a machine, and you can ask questions that won’t be answered on your CD rom or whatever.
I don’t know about prices.
But they’re the best. And they are not that hard. French is an easier language than the majority. It’s easier than english.
I want to learn french before school starts. can anyone tell me any books or websites that will help me speak full and fluent french by august ?

I want to start learning myself French in the holidays so I can prepare to get taught after the holidays. How can I learn myself in the best way?
To be honest with you, if I weren't French, I wouldn't have had the courage to learn the language. It's very tough, and its pronunciation is very different from that of English. But don't be discouraged! Some of my students found that they weren't learning enough in the classroom, and they asked me this exact question.
Here are a few ways to do it:
- Get French movies and put the English subtitles on. You'll be listening to the words, and you'll be seeing what they mean. This is the best way I've found to teach yourself a language.
Not only will you not get bored or sleepy like you'd get by reading French grammar books, but you're hearing the correct pronunciation of the words. Plus, you can always go back to a sentence and hear it again.
Here are a few French movies I know for sure you can rent at Blockbuster:
- Le diner de con
- Amélie
- Paris, je t'aime
They're good movies. “Le dinner de con” is a very popular comedy. “Amélie” and “Paris, je t'aime” are filmed in Paris, which is nice because you get to see some of the city's beautiful places.
- Check out the newspapers or online if there are any groups of people who get together and speak French. I know a few in my city. They get together every other week and talk about stuff they don’t always understand in French. The group is mostly people trying to learn French, and there are at least 2 or more French native speakers there to help you.
- Don’t buy the super-expensive online $200+ “Learn how to speak a new language” stuff. You said you’d be learning French soon, so you’ll just be throwing your money away.
I want to learn french , one first then the other of course.
