What is the best CD or book to learn French ?

Filed under: Learn French Language — admin @ 12:53 pm

I have asked this on another section but did not get a compelling answer
I will go to France this summer, so I want to learn every day French but don't have the time to go to a language school. Is there any book or CDs you would recommend?

Rosetta Stone. Look on Ebay for cheap used sets. Also, look up used college course materials with DVDs. That is how I learned Spanish without paying tuition!

How long will it take to learn french if I am fully immersed in it?

Filed under: Learn French Language — admin @ 2:54 pm

The title basically asks the question. I am a 13 year old kid, and I really want to learn french. My dad told me that if I was sully immersed in french, I would be able to speak it in around 1 month. is this true?

Well it really depends on the person, but the younger you are the better. Human beings lose their ability to learn new concepts the older we get. So get crackin'. If you work hard it can happen quicker than you think.

What books/free audio books really do help you learn french?

Filed under: Learn French Language — admin @ 4:03 pm

I've tried a few and none of them have worked. Does anyone have suggestions of 'miracle' free programs that really do help you learn a language… If not french… something? I really want to learn another language. And I know that miracle is stretching it, but you get my drift!
When I say books I mean ones I can get out of the library and free audio books either ones I can get out of libraries or download for free on the internet. Thanks for your input!

None would work as nicely as they say they do, but the one that you asked about (Dr. Blairs) is quite nice and fun. See other answer for details.

How hard is it to learn the French Language?

Filed under: Learn French Language — admin @ 1:02 pm

I always wanted to learn french. I wanted to buy that rosetta cd. But do you think it will really help? I plan on taking it when I get back in school but everyone is suggesting that I take SPANISH.

French is easy to get started. Learning basic expressions and vocabulary is fast. And you'll probably remember it. But, it gets tricky when you get to learning all the different verb tenses, and how the spelling and pronunciation changes…. at least that's what I found more challenging back when I took advanced French in high school. Good luck!

Photoshop Tutorials

A person looking for ways to improve his graphic designing skills should not look for anywhere else. The best option is to get hold of adobe photoshop tutorials that are available in bookstores and even online.

Adobe photoshop tutorials used to be difficult to find before the advent of the Internet. It also used to be very expensive to get such a tutorial before even if it is just a hard copy or printed tutorial. Thanks to the World Wide Web adobe photoshop tutorials are now easier to find, a lot cheaper and in most cases they are even available for free.

Graphic designers all over the world share a common language and this is the language of adobe photoshop. No designer can continue to ignore the benefits offered by this software when it comes to creating designs and editing photographs. But a designer will find out that photoshop is capable of other things once he learns how to use it to his advantage.

Looking at expert designers use photoshop can be very daunting to a beginner. However, do not let their expertise fool anyone because like everyone else they also started their design careers not knowing anything about photoshop. This goes to say that photoshop may look very challenging but it can be learned.

A person who is serious in learning photoshop is already halfway towards his goal. He should start by availing himself of a photoshop tutorial and he can do this by browsing various design sites and look for those who offer free downloading of adobe photoshop tutorials.

He can also try buying a book photoshop tutorial but I can be more difficult since he has to imagine things and understand the language and the style of the author first. Getting photoshop tutorials on line is the best option because he can easily practice what he is being taught in the tutorial in real time.

The first part of any basic photoshop tutorial is an introduction of the tools that are available to the designer. These tools can help him edit his work and even create simple photoshop effects in no time at all. Mastery of these tools is important if one wants to master photoshop.

Interactive photoshop tutorials can help a beginner learn design and photo editing in a matter of minutes. If he is a fast learner he will be able to produce at least one edited photo during his first tutorial session.

Those who already know basic photoshop which means he knows how to use the command a well as how to manipulate the color palette can go to specific photoshop lessons which are also available in tutorials. These lessons are called tricks of the trade and they can be very useful in creating advance editing projects.

A person who wants to learn photoshop should not however expect to master the software and all he tricks in just one sitting. Professional designers had years of experience before they mastered photoshop. To avoid getting frustrated it is important to be realistic and be content with whatever progress he may have in photoshop tutorial.

What is nice about learning from photoshop tutorials is that a person can be filled with awe just looking at the various effects that the can produce just with a click of a photoshop tool. Editing photographs has never been this easy with photoshop and the time and effort spent learning the tutorials will be worth it.

What is the most effective and quickest way to learn French?

Filed under: Learn French Language — admin @ 3:36 pm

I know how to speak English and Spanish fluently.I really want to learn French before or by the end of this year.I know that having Spanish as my first language relly gives me an advantage to learning another latin based language(French) so I have the gramar in control and the way the scentences are set.All I need to do is memorize the Frenc hwords and pronounciations. What do you suggest?

All you need to do is to memorize the grammar.

Since you already know spanish, the only thing to help you improve your pronunciation, is to read a book and get help from the teacher.

How long did it take you too learn French?

Filed under: Learn French Language — admin @ 1:18 pm

How old were you?
Are there any free online programs?
I am 16 and I want to learn French I do know Spanish, but I was wondering if French and Spanish are a bit similar.
Will it make it easier for me to lean the new language?

As similar as any two Romance languages. I've taken Spanish and French (w/English as my native language) and in both classes people always say 'This is just like English!' and in French especially people always say 'This is just like Spanish!'. Personally I don't think it's true. Sure, there are certain things that are similar, but don't expect to go into French and know everything already because you know Spanish (even though that would be cool). You will have an advantage simply because you're used to conjugating and whatnot.

Go to byki.com for a great free online thing. I use it for Russian and it's fantastic. Also try frenchpod.com for a 10 day trial that you could just keep creating new email addresses and keep using, probably.

French/Spanish cognates….

sympathique/simpatico

And then that's where my brain stopped working. I'll go now and leave you in peace.

How long did it take you to learn Spanish or French?

Filed under: Learn French Language — admin @ 2:45 pm

I am 14 and I want to learn a lot of different languages. I am probably going to learn Spanish first since I am moving to a Spanish speaking country, then I would like to learn French and get a tutor that only speaks to me in French. So how long did it take you to learn Spanish or French??
Thanks=]

It really depends how much work you put into it, and also your natural ability, because some people have a harder time than others learning a language. I'm fluent after about three years worth of study here in the US, but i also live with a bunch of international students, so i use it every day. Practice your verb conjugations until it becomes automatic, try to think about things in spanish, listen to spanish music and try and understand what they're saying. Make friends with spanish speaking people, practice your accent, etc. because all of these things will help you pick it up faster.

You will learn it very quickly if you move to a spanish speaking country because it will force you to use the language at all times. The most important thing though is to make friends and don't be scared of making mistakes, the people are always appreciative of your efforts.
